I count him as one of the truly kindest souls I've ever had the privelage of knowing. He was always so supportive of my drumming & percussion endeavors (e.g., I was the drummer and he was the percussionist for Black Leather Zydeco for a year, but once he let me perform with his rub-board - heck, my wrists hurt for a week!) and was instrumental in us getting video to work on www.AzKrakatoa.com. He also helped out in our performances (see Shows) and a LOT of people really valued his enthusiasm and positive energy. I count myself blessed to have know and worked with him. The world would be a much better place with more La La's! At least, this has been MY experience.

Donna and I, too, remember La La as a wonderfully talented and generous, fun person and he will be greatly missed. We underestimate the importance of each time we share with people and the preciousness of the gifts we bring to each other. We are lucky to have those pictures of him in such very happy moments at the Coffeehouse performance on the Krakatoa website, and as you can tell by the photos, he too was blessed by the group and times we spent together making music and sharing fellowship.

Peace,

Allen & Donna

Lala and I began corresponding to each other right after the coffee jam on January 5th when he headed out of town. His last email to me was on 02/01/07 wherein he sent me a photo of him (self-portrait) with a double rainbow behind him (he called this "Rainbow Thoughts of You"). The brightest part of the rainbow was hitting the top of his head.

My heart goes out to you as his friend and I have some sadness for myself because I realized rather quickly he was someone I could care a great deal about. May he be in peace in his transit and may his passing have been non-violent.

I met him a few times and he was as those folks said. He made up for what amateur rubboarders couldn't do, and for those ... rhythmic conceptions that were not necessarily in the idiom. I enjoyed working with him.
